Shariah-aware investing: verify the product, not just the label

A careful checklist for reviewing investment structures without making an unsupported Shariah classification.

A Shariah-aware investment decision depends on the actual contract, assets, activities, financial screens and oversight applied to a specific product. A product name or broad category cannot settle every investor's religious requirements. TakaCompass's strict mode demonstrates an exclusion rule for conventional instruments; it does not assess or certify a real security, issuer or Sukuk.

Editorial update: Bangla status: machine translation; human review pending.

Questions to ask

Read the contractual documents and identify what the certificate or share represents, how payments arise, what activities and assets are involved, and who oversees the Shariah review. Find out whether the review is current, what screening methodology was applied, and how changes in the business or contract are handled. Ask an appropriately qualified independent scholar or adviser about your own standard.

Separate values from verification

A screening checklist can help organize questions, but a missing or stale document should lead to “not assessed” or “verification required,” not an automatic pass. Bangladesh product availability, tax treatment and eligibility also require current official evidence independent of a Shariah review.

TakaCompass demo boundary

The web demo's strict Shariah setting excludes the conventional government-security sleeve and the equity research sleeve, and displays a fictional Sukuk sleeve. That interface rule is not a ruling about the permissibility of every government security, a verification of an individual Sukuk, or a substitute for reading its documents.
