Trust and transparency

Data quality, lineage and freshness

Learn how a trustworthy financial observation records its source, dates, rights, validation state and uncertainty.

A financial number is not trustworthy merely because it looks plausible or appears on an official website. It needs a named source, an effective date, a retrieval date, a status, validation evidence, confidence and a documented transformation. TakaCompass's shipped web data is fictional demo data; no current price, yield, tax, eligibility or Shariah status is asserted.

What an observation should carry

The data contract records source name and reference, instrument identifier, effective and retrieval times, reporting period, status, transformation version, validation state, confidence and an integrity hash when practical. Dataset-level rights must also state whether display, storage, derived analysis, redistribution and replay are allowed.

Dates and conflicts

Effective-as-of and retrieved-at answer different questions and must not be substituted for one another. A later correction creates a new record linked to the prior observation instead of silently erasing history. If equally authoritative sources disagree and the conflict cannot be resolved, the observation should be held back or labelled disputed rather than choosing a convenient value.

Fail-closed production gates

A real provider should remain disabled until source identity, rights for the intended use, effective-dated payload, freshness rule, schema and unit checks, conflict resolution and permission-aware caching are approved. Public access is not a data licence. TakaCompass's production connector placeholders do not become a live feed just because configuration says approved; reviewed ingestion and operations code are also required.
